Immerse yourself to the simulation by mounting monitor to the rig.
One of the most important tasks of the simulator equipment is to create the best possible immersion. Immersion is a metaphorical expression in the game world that means “sinking” into virtual reality. It refers to a player’s experience of delving into gaming so that his focus is entirely on the game and he is unaware of the world outside the game. The role of the monitor in immersion is critical, as the eyes create the feel of speed in the simulation and are the first sensor to tell the brain what is happening on the track, e.g., car starts to oversteer. And, better the immersion, the more natural, fun, and easier the simulator will be to drive.
FINE-TUNING FOR BETTER ERGONOMICS
One of the most important features of the development of the Overpower product family has been the adjustability of the equipment that affect driving ergonomics. And especially for children, driving ergonomics has to be on a great level as the kids has limited capacity to concentrate on things and they gets frustrated much easier than adults. Their sensors are also more sensitive for changes and more vulnerable for eye-strains, so having the ability to adjust everything according to the children’s requirements makes the racing experience more fun.
The OverPower Monitor Mount is made with a completely new type of mounting and grooving mechanisms, which makes it extremely easy and quick to adjust the monitor. You can conveniently adjust the position of the screen by loosening a few screws, and to ensure stability and easy adjustment, we have made each adjustment axis into it’s own so that fine adjustments can be made accurately and easily.
THE IMPORTANCE OF MONITOR IN SIM RACING
The horizontal field of view of a human being is 180 degrees, which should be covered as effectively as possible for the best possible immersion. Features and adjustments which affects the covered field of view are the size of the monitor, and the distance between the monitor and the eyes. For example, if you place a 27-inch game screen 50 cm away from your eyes, it will cover more of your field of view than a 50-inch TV 100 cm away.
In addition to screen size, there’s few other features to take into account when selecting the monitor for your simulator, which are resolution, refresh rate, and curvature. Resolution determines the number of pixels on the screen, in other words, how accurate the image is. The refresh rate tells you how many times the image refreshes on the screen, the bigger the better. We recommend purchasing a minimum of 120Hz gaming monitor. Curvature is a feature that affects to driving ergonomics, and based on our experience, even a small curve supports the ergonomics of the eye when driving. For example, professional sim racer Olli Pahkala recommends 1000R curvature monitors for everyone.
Considering that the features of modern gaming monitors are significantly better than TVs for gaming, their price point is significantly lower than TVs, and placing the screen close to the eyes is easy, a good gaming is the best solution for simulator driving.
PERFORMANCE IN DETAIL
When a monitor mount can be integrated into the rig, it frees up floor space, making your simulator more compact and look much nicer. The challenge in the development of integrated monitor mounts is to make it as sturdy and easy to adjust as possible. We took up the challenge with open arms and developed new fastening and adjustment mechanisms with robust support components that guarantee top-class performance and adjustability.
The mount’s support structures have been developed using the Samsung G9 49” super ultrawide gaming monitor, which is one of the largest and heaviest gaming monitors on the market. This ensured the mount’s top quality, performance and adjustability.
